"Third Party Liability Insurance" protects other road users from your actions as a motor vehicle driver.

Third Party Liability

"Third Party Liability" insurance covers the liability of motor vehicle owners and drivers for bodily injury and/or death and/or property damage caused by them to third parties, for which they are liable under current legislation.

 

Limits of Liability

The limits of liability are the same for all insurance companies and are as follows:

For events occurring on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria:
Per event for one injured person – 2,000,000 BGN;
Per event for two or more injured persons – 10,000,000 BGN;
For property damage per event – 2,000,000 BGN.

For events occurring on the territory of a European Union member state: The minimum limits of liability applicable in the respective member state where the insurance event occurred, according to its law, or the coverage according to the law of the territory where the motor vehicle is normally based, when that coverage is higher.

 

Territorial Validity

Motor Third Party Liability insurance is valid on the territory of the member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and those that have signed the Multilateral Agreement.

These are the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Finland, France, Netherlands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden, plus Andorra, Serbia, and Switzerland.

 

Green Card Certificate

The Green Card is an international certificate accompanying the Third Party Liability insurance, which verifies whether the vehicle has valid Third Party Liability and whether the policy covers the territory of the respective country.

For member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and those that have signed the Multilateral Agreement, the certificate is not required. There is no border control and it is not requested when entering the territory of the respective country. The countries where the insurance is valid are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Finland, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Sweden plus Andorra, Croatia, and Switzerland.

 

A Green Card certificate is mandatory when traveling to all other member countries of the Green Card agreement - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Macedonia, Israel, Iran, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Montenegro.
 

The document will be requested when crossing the border, during a road check, or in the event of a traffic accident.
