Moto-Pfohe Invests in Solar Energy for a Greener Future

Moto-Pfohe launches a major carbon neutrality project, leading the automotive sector in bulgaria.

Moto-Pfohe is becoming the first automotive company in bulgaria to invest in renewable energy sources on such a scale.

In February 2022, in the largest automotive complex in Bulgaria – the Moto-Pfohe facility in the Lyulin district of Sofia – the most significant corporate investment to date for the sustainable reduction of the company's carbon footprint was completed.

A photovoltaic installation was completed on the territory of the Moto-Pfohe complex in Sofia's Lyulin district, which will save over 3,050 tons of carbon emissions over the entire operational life of the system.

Expectations are that it can fully cover the electricity needs of the largest automotive complex in Bulgaria, generating about 210 MWh per year. With this, the company's customers will receive the usual high quality of service, combined with the generation of zero or minimal carbon emissions.

With the completion of this project, Moto-Pfohe becomes the first automotive company in Bulgaria to invest in renewable energy sources on such a scale and significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

The generated electricity will also power the charging stations within the complex. In addition to the existing station, in 2022 Moto-Pfohe will add a new 50-kilowatt charging station for electric vehicles. This year, Ford will introduce two electric vehicles to the Bulgarian market – the Mustang Mach-E and the all-electric Ford Transit.

Masahiro Oyama, Managing Director of Moto-Pfohe Group, stated on this occasion: "Moto-Pfohe is looking for ways to create new value by staying a step ahead in solving new challenges beyond existing frameworks, to help solve social and environmental problems by integrating our business."

For Moto-Pfohe, this investment is a pilot project, with plans to expand it to other automotive complexes across the country from 2023 onwards.

The contractor for the Moto-Pfohe Lyulin Photovoltaic Center is Briabuild - Solar Ltd.

For decades, Moto-Pfohe has focused on its strive and role to be a good member of Bulgarian society. Since 1997, the Moto-Pfohe Donor Program for the Preservation of Natural and Cultural Heritage has existed and been maintained, serving as a corporate contribution to sustainable development and proof of the company's social responsibility.

In addition, back in 2009, the Moto-Pfohe Group was perhaps the first in the industry to introduce electronic invoices for its customers. Spare parts for the vehicles in the company's portfolio are offered in bags made of the biodegradable material Degralen-L. Moto-Pfohe constantly invests in the digitalization of its operations.
